What is LASIK?
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) reshapes the cornea, the transparent front part of the eye, to focus light directly onto the retina. A laser creates a precise flap on the cornea, then a second laser sculpts the corneal tissue to correct refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
What is the Wavelight laser?
Wavelight lasers use wavefront-optimized technology. Where traditional LASIK corrected vision based on your glasses prescription alone, wavefront-optimized treatments preserve the natural shape of the cornea by delivering more laser energy in the corneal periphery, reducing the higher-order aberrations associated with visual symptoms after conventional refractive surgery.
